JULIE
Background: Founder and Artistic Director of milk on the rocks NYC, Julie Kang has more than 15 years of diverse design and fashion experience including: Lanvin, Claude Montana, Balmain, and Converse. Based in Paris, today she creates a collection of pop culture influences that instills a new perspective for kids’s clothing and now for funky women!
Julie loves: sleeping, watching her children sleep or laugh, YouTube, her close friends, toy stores, The Office, humble people, eating cookies at night, buying new T-shirts, lipstick, coffee, Breaking Bad.
Inspiration: her parents, modern art, frank conversation, Taoism, Björk, Oprah Winfrey’s super soul sundays, Tom Yorke, Oscar acceptance speeches, movies, wise people, Nick Knight, space and the universe, Tim Walker, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Rauschenberg, Oscar Wilde quotes, all music.
ROSANNE
Background: For 20 years, Rosanne founded and directed a design and illustration studio in New York, Enki NY Inc., specializing in graphic design, branding, illustration and event design. Her work has been appeared in publications such as Design Week, Elle and Vogue. Her clients have included: L’Oréal USA, Kiehl’s, Netflix, NBC/Lionsgate, Elle Decor, and Beam Suntory. After over 22 years in NYC now based in Los Angeles, Rosanne creates illustrations for milk on the rocks NYC.
Rosanne loves: puppies, flea markets and dollar stores, hiking in the mountains, decoration of any kind, empty beaches, riding a bike at 1am in Paris.
Inspiration: family and friends, movie marathons, teachers, her old apartment in the East Village, once inhabited by the poet Allen Ginsberg.
LUCIE
Background: With a degree from Esmod International in her pocket, specializing in children’s wear, Lucie began her career working in trend forecasting for Perclers Paris and Trend Union. Her experience in textile research, fabrics and colors gave her the expertise and sensibility to create unique and innovative designs for milk on the rocks NYC. Lucie’s international experience has taken her to England, Spain and Australia. Based in Paris, she is in charge of designing new styles each season and production for milk on the rocks.
Lucie loves: the sun, go to the beach, dinner at restaurants with friends, listen to music while strolling in Paris, discover new shops, travel far away, listen to children's conversations, put lipstick, dance.
Inspiration: people in the street and those who follow their dreams, concept stores, Michel Gondry, Boris Vian, Bjork, M.I.A for their original universe, anticonformism.
FAIZA
Background: After studying business, Faïza, who has a real passion for the world of children, quickly joined the team. She is the queen of accounting, organization and commercial follow-up. She also manages the website for milk on the rocks.
Faïza likes: her little sister, her little brother and her family, the magic of babies and the pink color, eating and especially croissants and chocolate, holidays in Morocco, traveling, Korean dramas, Disney movies of the ‘90s, Bollywood, and baking.
Her inspiration: children and their worlds, integrity, family values and romance, London, and cake design.
JEANNE
Background: Jeanne studied Textile Design at the Fine-Art in Lyon and Arts-Décoratifs school in Paris. She has also worked in the clothing and textile sector with houses like Viktor & Rolf in the Netherlands or Agnès B. in Paris. Based in Paris, Jeanne is in charge of graphic illustrations and colors for milk on the rocks.
Jeanne loves: Listening to radio, drawing, cooking, sci-fi movies, comics, holidays, drinking outside, going to exhibitions and concerts, hiking and ping-pong.
Her inspiration: The world and the people around her, traveling, books and exhibitions, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Adam Green, Daniel Johnston, Laurie Anderson, the Beastie Boys.
VIRGINIE
Background: Studied law in Aix-en-Provence, then went to ESMOD to specialize in children’s wear. She was a Designer for Bensimon and Sonia Rykiel, worked for an office specializing in children’s wear, between Paris and Tokyo. She has worked with numberous name brands such as: Petit Bateau, Okaidi, Jacadi, Cyrillus Monoprix, and Galeries Lafayette. She created her own brand “by virgo,” one of the first organic fair trade collections (in collaboration with Monoprix June-July 2019). She is an author and illustrator at Bayard Jeunesse and launched her character “Mr. Bear”. Virginie consults and creates illustrations for milk on the rocks.
Virginie loves: chocolate, swimming when it's raining, making pancakes in the shape of monsters, finishing a chocolate fondu with your fingers, drawing under a tree with the sunlight flowing through the leaves, dancing to ’80s songs with silver leggings, and napping in freshly laundered white sheets.
Inspiration: curious and passionate about fashion of the ’50s and ’60s, pastry, classical music (she’s played piano for more than 20 years), invests in the protecting the planet (Greenpeace).
